Sonoma Coastline – It’s an artist Paradise

Sonoma Coast

Sonoma Coast is one of California’s most scenic attractions. A series of beaches separated by rocky bluffs, Sonoma Coast has 19 miles of some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world.

The weather here is often a chilly combination of wind and fog. During the summer months, the morning fog usually burns off to create pleasant, sunny afternoons. Even during the summer.

On of the most amazing areas is Bodega Bay Heads where the view is astonishing, the ocean, waves, landscape, so colorful any season. The coast bursts into beautiful colors with a great variety of springtime flowers starting in late February.

Along more than thirty miles of rugged and scenic coastline of the Sonoma coast are numerous parks, beaches, surfing area, hike, observe a variety of sea and bird life, and enjoy nature. The coast features stretches of wide, sandy beaches and sections of rocky cliffs.

Two of my favorite places in the area are:

Bodega Bay: is a shallow, rocky inlet of the Pacific Ocean on the coast of northern California in the United States. It is approximately 5 mi (8 km) across and is located approximately 40 mi (60 km) northwest of San Francisco and 20 mi (32 km) west of Santa Rosa. The bay straddles the boundary between Sonoma County to the north and Marin County to the south. The bay is a marine habitat used for navigation, recreation, and commercial and sport fishing including shellfish harvesting.

Bodega Bay is protected on its north end from the Pacific Ocean by Bodega Head, which shelters the small Bodega Harbor and is separated from the main bay by a jetty. The San Andreas Fault runs parallel to the coastline and bisects Bodega Head, which lies on the Pacific Plate; the town is on the North American Plate. The village of Bodega Bay sits on the east side of Bodega Harbor. The bay connects on its south end to the mouth of Tomales Bay. Read more at wikipedia

Duncans Landing/Cove

One of the best view with magnificent beach and colorful landscapes. A place where Mother Nature will amaze everyone. You can se big waves at “Death Rock”. Be very careful — this is one of the most dangerous beaches along the Sonoma Coast. Waves have come up high enough to the parking lot and people have been swept off the rocks.
